Little Chem Chem
Auberge magazine’s request to photograph Little Chem Chem and Mwiba Lodge in Tanzania was an unexpected start to 2026 and required a bit of shuffling to squeeze it in at the last minute. But this was a shoot I absolutely could not turn down! Along with a multi-page spread, Auberge magazine was set to feature one of my images on the cover of their magazine. This was to coincide with the announcement that Auberge would be partnering with Legendary and Chem Chem safari lodges – incredibly successful and reputable brands with a strong conservation ethos already – with their prestigious portfolio.
Working within guidelines given by their creative team, I set off on a week-long trip (3 nights at Little Chem Chem, 3 nights at Mwiba and one night at Songa camp). It was the rainy season, and we struggled with cloud bursts and rained-out sunset sessions. Heavy rainfall upstream turned roads into literal rivers that we had to cross by game vehicle (and once, in a small tin boat!). Ultimately, the feature was a success, largely due to the immense support given by Fabia, Nico, Tania and the creative team at Auberge. The shoot resulted in a full media buyout by Auberge ahead of their announcement, with media used to accompany the message and update socials and collateral for the remainder of the year. I am set to join them again in 2027 for a three-part journey spread across the year.
